Work-Life Balance Is a Lie: Here’s What to Choose Instead

How many times have you told yourself, “If I could just figure out work-life balance, everything would finally feel easier”?

Mama, here’s the truth: work-life balance is a lie. And the harder you chase it, the more guilt, exhaustion, and overwhelm you feel.

But that doesn’t mean peace is impossible. It means it’s time for a new definition.

In this post, I’ll walk you through:
1️⃣The 3 myths that keep working moms stuck in the cycle of chasing balance
2️⃣How your leadership style impacts imbalance (and what to do about it)
3️⃣My Peace Reset framework to finally create alignment without the guilt

Grab your coffee (or reheat it for the third time). Let’s dive in.

Myth #1: Balance Means Equal

We’ve all seen the image of the perfect scale—work on one side, life on the other. But life doesn’t split neatly into 50/50.

Some seasons demand more at work (hello, tax season). Some seasons demand more at home (like when a child is sick). Balance isn’t equal—it’s seasonal.

👉 Instead of striving for “even,” ask: What matters most in this season?

Myth #2: Balance Means Doing It All

Maybe you’ve believed that if you could just fit everything in—work, kids, partner, friends, volunteering—you’d finally feel balanced.

But balance doesn’t come from doing it all. It comes from doing the right things in the right season.

One of my clients, Lisa, was spinning plates everywhere: full-time job, soccer coach, church volunteer, hosting dinners. On the outside, she looked like Supermom. Inside, she was drowning. Once she let go of half her commitments, she finally breathed again.

👉 Ask yourself: What can I delete, delegate, or delay right now?

Myth #3: Balance Is a Destination

We often think balance is something we’ll “arrive at” one day. But life is dynamic—balance isn’t permanent.

Think of it like a seesaw. Balance is a daily practice of small resets, not a final destination.

👉 Ask: What reset do I need today to feel aligned?

How Leadership Style Shapes Balance

Your imbalance shows up differently depending on how you’re wired:
💪Boss Lady in Action: Carries everything, micromanages → Reset: delegate one thing this week
👑Charismatic Queen: Says yes to stay visible → Reset: say one aligned no this week.
💖Heart-Centered Guide: Absorbs everyone’s stress → Reset: block 15 minutes of solitude daily.
🧠Visionary Brainiac: Overthinks and stalls → Reset: set a 20-minute timer, make a decision, and move.

The Peace Reset Framework

Here’s the shift that finally gave me peace after years of chasing balance:
P – Pause → Stop autopilot. Take a breath.
E – Evaluate → What matters most this week?
A – Adjust → Delegate, delay, or delete what doesn’t fit.
C – Commit → Choose 1–2 aligned priorities.
E – Exhale → Release the guilt.

Final Takeaway

Work-life balance is a myth. But peace, presence, and alignment? They’re possible—when you stop chasing balance and start practicing resets.

✨ Your homework:
✔️Do the Balance Reset Audit (energizers vs drainers).
✔️Practice the Peace Reset once this week.
✔️Take the Leadership Style Quiz to learn how you uniquely experience imbalance.

You don’t need balance to thrive. You need peace. And once you choose it, you’ll stop surviving—and start leading.
